Therapeutic Drug Monitoring in Neuropsychopharmacology

Recently the new „Consensus Guidelines for Therapeutic Drug Monitoring in Neuropsychopharmacology: Update 2017“ were published, which are being released by the Task Force Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) of the AGNP.

The last consensus from 2011 was cited more than 400times, and it was translated in several other languages (German, Hungarian, French, Chinese). It is now also appreciated in the American psychiatry. Many laboratories worldwide use the therapeutic reference ranges that are being suggested in this paper. With its more than 1300 references it represents an encyclopedia of the pharmacokinetics of psychotropic drugs.

Although the paper with its 90 pages length is not easy to read, it should be a reference work for everybody prescribing psychotropic drugs.

The “Consensus 2017” is published in the journal Pharmacopsychiatry, the official organ of the AGNP. The publisher, Thieme Verlag, has agreed to make the paper as well as an accompanying editorial and a commentary publicly available. The links to the three papers can be found in the “Psychopharmacology” section of this website.
